History was made in class 1A. Kentucky Country Day claimed the program’s first football title, sealed by Deion Davidson’s game-winning touchdown and Finals MVP honors.
Lexington Christian Academy captured the Class 2A crown with a 33–28 wire-to-wire win behind sophomore Nash Whelan’s four touchdown performance.
Boyle County dominated Class 4A, shutting out unbeaten Franklin County 34–0 as JiDyn Smith-Hisel rushed for 208 yards and MVP Seneca Driver accounted for three touchdowns.
In Class 6A, Louisville Trinity topped South Warren 28–14, riding Jamaurion Berry’s two scores to a third straight state championship.
Southwestern vs Centre College

Homecoming Saturday under the lights at Andy Frye Stadium delivered a thriller, as Centre made the most of its final night game of the season with a 19–16 victory over Southwestern. Senior quarterback Jack Gohmann threw for two touchdowns, connecting with Blake Busson, who led the Colonels with 88 receiving yards.
Southwestern struggled to find rhythm early, but a quarterback change sparked momentum and kept the Pirates within striking distance. Star running back Tycen Williams powered the offense with 149 rushing yards, as Southwestern totaled 242 yards on the ground to stay in contention deep into the fourth quarter.
The Pirates had a chance to take the lead in the closing minutes, but a costly fumble ended the comeback attempt. Centre recovered and ran out the clock, sealing a hard-fought Homecoming win.

Hanover vs Centre College

Centre College opened its home schedule with a 23–15 victory over Hanover College, securing a solid win in the season opener.
Quarterback Jack Gohmann delivered an efficient performance, completing 25 of 36 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Colonels’ offense. The senior wide receiver duo of Blake Busson and Chandler proved to be reliable targets, combining for 15 receptions and 135 yards. Each found the end zone during the second quarter as Centre built momentum before halftime.
Defensively, Centre was anchored by a standout effort from defensive end Wyatt Fowler. Fowler recorded five total tackles, including two tackles for loss, and added the Colonels’ lone sack of the game, helping contain Hanover throughout the night.
Centre’s balanced offensive execution and timely defensive plays proved to be the difference in the home opening win.

On Saturday, Centre men’s lacrosse opened its 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) schedule by hosting Berry. The Colonels delivered a commanding performance, defeating the Vikings 16–8 to improve to 5–4 overall and 1–0 in conference play.

A hometown crowd saw Lexington's Sayre rise to the occasion, edging out eastern Kentucky's Raceland in a tight 27-22 battle that came down to the final moments.
Beechwood put on an offensive showcase, overwhelming Owensboro Catholic 50-34 in a statement win that left little doubt from start to finish.
Paducah Tilghman and Franklin County traded blows early in a back-and-forth contest, but Tilghman's experienced senior class proved too much down the stretch, pulling away with relentless offensive pressure to close out the night 27-20.
Louisville The Centurions wasted no time reminding everyone why they were the favorites. Led by a dominant senior QB and East Carolina commit Connor Hodge, CAL controlled the game from start to finish. He piled up 225 passing yards and two touchdowns, added 137 rushing yards, and crossed the goal line four times on the ground. A complete performance capped off with a 42-21 victory in dominant fashion.
The marquee matchup of the day lived up to the hype early, as Ryle jumped out to an early lead. But the Shamrocks' depth and firepower proved too much. Sophomore QB Zane Johnson tossed a pair of touchdown passes, while elusive RB Jamaurion Brown added two scores of his own. Trinity pulled away late to secure the 42-23 win and another state title.
The final game of the year was a rematch of last season's 5A championship and Bowling Green made it back-to-back. The Purples' star QB and Missouri State signee threw for 150 yards, rushed for 80 more, and accounted for three rushing touchdowns. Behind a relentless ground attack totaling 250 team rushing yards, Bowling Green pulled away for a 37-20 victory, cementing their reign atop Class 5A.

Boyle County wasted no time setting the tone, defeating Lexington Christian in the Rafferty's Bowl 35-13. Senior running back Demauriah Brown (#0) powered the offense with 114 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while star wide receiver and West Virginia commit Montavin Quisenberry (#5) showcased his versatility adding 60 yards on the ground and 67 yards through the air.
Junior quarterback Baylor Murphy (#16) capped the night with a commanding performance, throwing for 294 yards and three touchdowns to earn Rafferty's Bowl MVP honors as Boyle County launched its season in style.
2023 Ironman National

Jett Lawrence delivered one of the most dominant rookie seasons in 450 Class history, completing a perfect, undefeated championship run. He joined legends Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart as the only riders in 52 seasons to achieve a flawless season. Lawrence finished the year with 11 career wins, tying him for 15th all-time.
Chase Sexton closed the season with another runner-up result, earning six second-place finishes despite missing three rounds due to injury. Aaron Plessinger secured third overall in the standings, marking the best premier-class championship finish of his career.
Jo Shimoda earned his third career victory with a dominant 1-1 sweep, giving Kawasaki its first win of the season. Haiden Deegan finished second overall with a late pass in Moto 2, while Tom Vialle rounded out the podium in third.
In the championship standings, Hunter Lawrence captured the 250 Class title with seven wins and eight podiums, finishing 20 points ahead of Justin Cooper, while Shimoda placed third overall.

The 2023 Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Motocross Championship delivered a demanding week of racing as riders battled intense heat, humidity, and periods of heavy rain at the historic Tennessee ranch. Despite weather delays on Thursday, the nation’s top amateur prospects put on impressive performances across the week.
In the premier amateur class, Daxton Bennick dominated the Open Pro Sport division by sweeping all three motos to secure the championship and claim the prestigious Nicky Hayden AMA Horizon Award. Gavin Towers captured the 250 Pro Sport title with a strong and consistent week of racing. In the 250 B division, Krystian Janik emerged victorious after outdueling pre-race favorite Drew Adams for the championship. On the women’s side, Kyleigh Stallings rode to victory to take home the WMX class title.
Braves vs Hot Rods

Dru Baker recorded his third three-hit game of the season, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (22–24) fell 6–1 to the Rome Braves (24–26) on Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Rome jumped ahead early, scoring twice in the first on Drake Baldwin’s two-run homer. The Braves added two more runs in the second and another in the third to build a 5–0 lead.
Bowling Green’s lone run came in the seventh when Brock Jones drove in Baker with an RBI triple. The Hot Rods couldn’t rally late, dropping the game 6–1.
Staten Island Ferry Hawks vs Lexington Counter Clocks

The Counter Clocks took the series opener Friday with a narrow 4–3 win, but Saturday belonged to the Staten Island FerryHawks, who responded with a 13–7 victory. Newly signed starter Jesse Remington took the mound for Staten Island against Lexington’s Yeudy Garcia, and the FerryHawks’ offense quickly took control.
Staten Island broke the game open with four runs in the second inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Jack Elliott and Ricardo Cespedes. Elliott added another RBI hit in the third before Mikey Edelman launched a two-run homer to deep center field, extending the lead to 9–2. The Manhattan native’s blast marked his first home run of the season.
Lexington mounted a push with five runs in the fifth inning, four charged to Remington. However, FerryHawks reliever Christian Allegretti entered to stop the rally and secure the win.
2023 Indianapolis Supercross

Round 9 of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship brought a lively crowd to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis as both the 450SX and 250SX East divisions delivered exciting main events.
In the 450SX main, Ken Roczen got out front early and controlled the race from the opening lap. Riding his Suzuki RM-Z450, Roczen led all 27 laps and held off a late charge from Justin Barcia, who crossed the line less than a second behind in second place. Cooper Webb worked his way through the pack to secure third and complete the podium.
The 250SX East main saw Hunter Lawrence continue his strong championship run. Lawrence rode a smooth and calculated race, taking the win and adding valuable points to his title lead while the rest of the field battled behind him for podium spots.
2022 Loretta Lynns National Championship Day 1

The morning motos at the 2022 Loretta Lynn Amateur National delivered plenty of action right from the gate drop. ClubMX owner Brandon Haas put together a strong ride to take the win in the 30+ class, setting the tone early for the day. In Open Pro Sport, Ryder DiFrancesco charged through the pack with an impressive ride to grab the victory. The 40+ class saw a tight battle between two veterans, with Mike Brown edging out Kris Keefer for the win. In 250B, the race took an unexpected turn when pre race favorite Haiden Deegan suffered a mechanical issue and was forced to DNF, opening the door for Matti Jorgensen to capitalize and take the moto win.
