Nashville delivered a classic. Illinois and Tennessee went punch for punch at Nissan Stadium, trading momentum throughout the night. When it mattered most, Luke Altmyer guided a composed final drive, capped by David Olano’s game winning 29 yard kick at the buzzer to secure a 30–28 Illinois victory.

2025 UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals

History was made in class 1A. Kentucky Country Day claimed the program’s first football title, sealed by Deion Davidson’s game-winning touchdown and Finals MVP honors.
Lexington Christian Academy captured the Class 2A crown with a 33–28 wire-to-wire win behind sophomore Nash Whelan’s four touchdown performance.
Boyle County dominated Class 4A, shutting out unbeaten Franklin County 34–0 as JiDyn Smith-Hisel rushed for 208 yards and MVP Seneca Driver accounted for three touchdowns.
In Class 6A, Louisville Trinity topped South Warren 28–14, riding Jamaurion Berry’s two scores to a third straight state championship.

Southwestern vs Centre College

Homecoming Saturday under the lights at Andy Frye Stadium delivered a thriller, as Centre made the most of its final night game of the season with a 19–16 victory over Southwestern. Senior quarterback Jack Gohmann threw for two touchdowns, connecting with Blake Busson, who led the Colonels with 88 receiving yards.
Southwestern struggled to find rhythm early, but a quarterback change sparked momentum and kept the Pirates within striking distance. Star running back Tycen Williams powered the offense with 149 rushing yards, as Southwestern totaled 242 yards on the ground to stay in contention deep into the fourth quarter.
The Pirates had a chance to take the lead in the closing minutes, but a costly fumble ended the comeback attempt. Centre recovered and ran out the clock, sealing a hard-fought Homecoming win.

Hanover vs Centre College

Centre College opened its home schedule with a 23–15 victory over Hanover College, securing a solid win in the season opener.
Quarterback Jack Gohmann delivered an efficient performance, completing 25 of 36 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Colonels’ offense. The senior wide receiver duo of Blake Busson and Chandler proved to be reliable targets, combining for 15 receptions and 135 yards. Each found the end zone during the second quarter as Centre built momentum before halftime.
Defensively, Centre was anchored by a standout effort from defensive end Wyatt Fowler. Fowler recorded five total tackles, including two tackles for loss, and added the Colonels’ lone sack of the game, helping contain Hanover throughout the night.
Centre’s balanced offensive execution and timely defensive plays proved to be the difference in the home opening win.

On Saturday, Centre men’s lacrosse opened its 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) schedule by hosting Berry. The Colonels delivered a commanding performance, defeating the Vikings 16–8 to improve to 5–4 overall and 1–0 in conference play.
